Strictly Come Dancing star Aljaz Skorjanec has opened up on whether his wife Janette Manrara could be returning to the Strictly dance floor. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the dance pro addressed Janette’s move away from the programme after nearly a decade of the couple working side by side, admitting that she “looks at home” while presenting the spin-off series.

Addressing Janette’s new venture, Aljaz said: “I don’t know – I just think that whatever she’s going to do she’s going to be brilliant at it.

“She bought so much into Strictly from her choreography, to her dedication as a pro.

“I think that she brought this whole aspect to the show eight years ago and she’s such a beautiful dancer as it is.”

The Slovenian native added that no matter what Janette decides to do, he’s going to be standing firmly by her side supporting her.

“I don’t know, one day, but I think if she keeps smashing the presenting role…” Aljaz added.

He went on: “I think she’s really happy with what she’s doing at the moment and whatever she decides to do, I’m going to be her number one fan.

“But I don’t know, but she looks very at home on It Takes Two and I don’t want to change that.”

This year sees the American native present the Strictly spin-off show for the first time, after eight years as a pro dancer on the BBC show.

Speaking about doing the show without Janette by his side, Aljaz admitted he struggles without her on “bad days”.

He said: “It’s different because we always have been really professional when it comes to work, but we could always look to the left if we have a bad day or whatever.

“I’d just look at Janette and then everything gets better in an instant.”

However, the star revealed that his wife is still very much a part of the Strictly family and frequently gives input on group dances.

Aljaz went on: “She’s still involved, she’s co-assisting a couple of group numbers, I know she’s still going to be involved in the show.”

But despite Janette still being part of the programme, Aljaz admitted that it’s a “different” feeling, which he has had to get used to.

“Obviously it is a different dynamic,” he said, adding: “We didn’t know any difference for eight years.

“We started this job together and this year I’ve started on my own doing it without her.”

Aljaz revealed that he still gets his wife’s input when it comes to choreographing his and Sara Davies’ dances.

“Janette and I have always done Strictly together, we always choreograph everything together,” he said.

He went on: “We help each other with our numbers, not in training but we choreograph the dance to get ideas. So we’re still kind of doing it but just for me.”

The star confessed that he does miss having his wife on set, but fully supports her in her presenting role.

“Obviously I do miss her, but when I see how she’s thriving in her new role, you can’t think of it being anything but positive,” Aljaz said.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.05pm on BBC one.
