Amber Turner lost patience with Dan Edgar after he failed to make changes
The Only Way Is Essex's former power couple Amber Turner and Dan Edgar sent shockwaves through Brentwood this week when they announced they had split up after six years together.
Initial rumours swirled online after fans noticed 32-year-old Dan had unfollowed Amber, 29, on Instagram. She then took to the social media platform to confirm the shock news.
And while fans of the hit ITVBe show had been left in the dark over the reason for their break-up, it has now been reported that Amber "lost patience" with waiting for Dan to take the next step in their relationship.
It has been claimed that Amber was hoping for a proposal and to start a family and wasn't prepared to "waste time" on somebody who wouldn't commit.
A source told The Sun of the split: "Amber has been desperate to settle down for years now, but Dan has always been hesitant.
"She was convinced a proposal would be coming soon after they moved into their dream home together at the end of last year.
"But Dan has failed to make the changes he promised to make for Amber and still seems undecided about the future."
The source continued to say that Amber was "willing to give Dan time" but she ultimately "lost patience."
OK! has contacted representatives for both Amber and Dan for comment on this story.
Amber addressed rumours of the pair's split in a statement shared with her 843k Instagram followers on Tuesday.
She wrote: "I wasn't going to post anything but due to speculations & questions, I feel like I need to. Yes, me and Dan have split.
"I honestly wish him the best for the future. Please respect our privacy at this time. Thank you."
The pair have been on-and-off during their six year relationship, often splitting and unfollowing each other on social media before reuniting.
Back in September 2022, they both deleted all trace of each other from their social media profiles.
Dan and Amber also split in 2018 and 2019, but rekindled their romance both times.
They moved into their "dream" Essex home in December, with Amber writing at the time: "And just like that we are moving!! Happy & sad all in one…Breakups, makeups, arguments & some of the happiest memories ever! Where we brought our little baby [dog] Oliver home too! Will be sad to leave but excited for our next chapter…"
