Ant McPartlin was overcome with emotion as he returned to his Britain's Got Talent hosting duties in front of a live studio audience for the first time in two years.
The series, which sees Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams as the judges, is long-awaited as it was cancelled last year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
And taking to the stage with his hosting co-star Declan Donnelly, 46 year old Ant said: "Excuse me while I go and cry. We are so excited to be back.
"We were gutted to miss last year and not get to see you all. But we're back, raring to go and have one hell of a show for you," he said, according to The Mirror.
Over the weekend, 62 year old Simon was snapped smiling alongside his fellow Britain's Got Talent judges as the show returned to filming.
Head judge Simon posed alongside Amanda, Alesha and David as the judges headed to the London Palladium for the return of the BGT auditions.
Comedian David, 50, shared photos from the show's first round of auditions on his Twitter page to mark the occasion.
One image saw Simon, who recently got engaged to Lauren Silverman, and David posing together while standing in front of some grand, red-carpeted steps with gold railings inside the theatre.
As he posted the snap of the duo, David wrote: "Reunited. @SimonCowell @BGT".
The official Britain's Got Talent Twitter account later teased the epic first round of auditions following a busy day at the London Palladium.
A tweet from the account from the ITV show read: "We know it's late, but we have a secret to share… We've had an EPIC day one at #BGT auditions *and* – shhh! Don't tell anyone – TWO GOLDEN BUZZERS!"
The return of the show's auditions come after it was reported that Simon has agreed to remain on BGT until 2025.
ITV are understood to have extended the programme's deal by an extra year.
A source close to the music mogul said: "He is showing no signs of slowing down and is working on lots of American projects too."
