Love Island contestant Curtis Pritchard has addressed his recent appearance on Channel 4 comedy series Stand Up & Deliver as part of Stand Up 2 Cancer. The professional dancer’s comments on the show did not go down well with some viewers who branded his performance as “smutty” and “career-ending.”

The show saw a group of celebrities team up with professional comedians in a bid to raise funds for the cancer charity.

The 25-year-old was booed during his stand-up routine for Channel 4’s Stand Up and Deliver, after he included a crude joke which he was warned to ditch by his mentor and fellow comedian Judi Love.

Speaking on his self-titled podcast alongside his brother AJ Pritchard, Curtis addressed his stand-up routine and explained he “went too far”.

He began: “I know that we normally do the questions from you guys here but just before we move on, I just want to quickly say I recently took part in the stand up to cancer initiative with Channel 4 where I was challenged to become a stand-up comedian.

“I just want to apologise because I know that everyone that listens to this you always support me, you’re lovely and give me the utmost respect and thank you so much for that, but I just want to apologise to anybody that I have offended.”

He went on: “Some of the jokes, they missed the mark, they were completely off track and went too far and I didn’t realise that at the time but I realise it now and I just want to apologise to everybody and anybody that I have offended.

“It was never intentional at all, it really really wasn’t.”

Curtis concluded: “It was a great, great show to be a part of and I was very fortunate to be able to take part but I just want to apologise and say I am sorry for the jokes.

“I think everything missed the mark so I do apologise.”

The former Love Island star’s grovelling apology comes after he made a gag on the show which some viewers slammed as “vulgar”.

During the set, Curtis said: “I had this great idea to go on to the biggest dating show on TV. I had the time of my life on there. It’s actually where I got compared to Usain Bolt.

“The only difference is, hang on when he finishes under ten seconds the crowd goes wild, when I finish under ten seconds she looks at me in disgust and says ‘is that all you’ve got?'”

The small-screen star later went on to include further sex jokes during the charity gig.

Curtis exclaimed: “I got some lubricant out, two squirts, you don’t want any more than that otherwise it’s like a slip and slide. You’ll slip off the bed and you won’t know what hole it’s gone in.

“It’s like throwing a sausage down a hallway, it’s ridiculous.”

After his routine came to a close, Curtis said backstage: “There was a guy booing. I mustn’t have been that good but I enjoyed it. I’m exhausted now, I ain’t gonna lie.

“Physically, mentally, emotionally exhausted. I need my bed.”

Viewers were less than impressed with Curtis’ stand-up, as one fumed: “Curtis’ act was abysmal and vulgar, very unfunny.”

“Curtis is so awkward… the silence is deafening. He went down like a lead balloon,” added another.

A third wrote: “Wow, that guy BOOING loud in the corner…we all have our critics Curtis!”
