Helen Flanagan admits she needs some adult time as she opens up on single motherhood

Helen Flanagan has candidly admitted that she 'needs some adult time' as she opens up on life as a single mum, following her split from footballer fiancé, Scott Sinclair, last year.

The 32 year old is mum to three children – daughters Matilda, 7, Delilah, 4, and two year old son Charlie who she shares with her ex.

Helen, who is best-known for playing Rosie Webster on Coronation Street, took to Instagram on Sunday morning, as she spoke about the difficulties of parenting whilst making a morning drink.

She was dressed casually in a black top and showed off her natural beauty without a scrap of makeup, whilst her blonde hair was scraped back into a bun.

Helen explained to the camera: "I fell asleep with the kids last night. So Delilah does this thing where she will not go to sleep without me, not a chance, she will just scream and scream and scream.

"Gosh, she's nearly five, but honestly, she won't go to sleep without me. She literally has to sleep right there (next to her face).

"So usually what I do, I pretend I'm going to sleep and then when she's asleep I sneak out the room.

"Anyway, I didn't, I fell asleep and I fell asleep in my contact lenses. Great!

"But also I need my own adult time even if it's just like I'm watching something I want to watch or I can speak to my friends. I just need that switch off.

"I would say I was well rested but my eyeballs hurt and we were up early this morning."

Despite struggling with Delilah's sleep pattern, Helen and her kids were able to enjoy some quality family time together as they posed for a snap that Helen posted to Instagram.

She also went on a bike ride with Delilah, with the little girl looking content on the back of her mum's bike in a sweet red helmet.

Proud mum Helen wrote: "Bonding time with Delilah."

Scott and Helen went their separate ways towards the end of last year, but remain committed to co-parenting their three children together.

Helen and Scott, 33, first started dating back in 2009, while the footballer was playing for Wigan Athletic.

The pair got engaged in 2018 during a family holiday in Disneyland Paris, but split after 13 years together.

Helen recently opened up on co-parenting with Scott, as she told The Sun: "I co-parent with Scott. We were together for a long time. So he lives with his mum in Bristol and I live in Manchester with the kids. I get on really well with Scott's mum.

"I was with Scott aged 19-31, so that's why I get on so well with his mum. So honestly it makes my life so easy because we hang out together. It's really nice. It's pretty drama free as I get on really well with her.

"The kids see their dad all the time, they see their nana a lot. We're always in Birmingham a lot to meet with the kids half way."
