James Martin took to social media to post a picture of a classic motor which had caught his eye. Fans of the chef, who is well known for his love of cars, were left confused as they thought it was one from his own collection.

James’ snap showed a blue Mercedes parked in the sunshine at his Chewton Glen eatery The Kitchen.

“Class outside @thekitchenatcg!” he captioned the post which he shared with his 707,900 Twitter followers as well as on Instagram.

Many took to the comments section of his post to share their thoughts on the car, however some were confused.

“God I love that car… perfect colour choice too,” one follower wrote.

“Wow… very nice,” another added.

“Nice motor James,” a third remarked.

“One of yours?” a fourth asked.

“Ha ha not mine,” he quickly pointed out.

On Instagram, James added: “Not mine sadly but a nice car.”

“Shame, very nice,” a follower replied, while another remarked: “You’d look good in it.”

As the coronavirus lockdown begins to lift, James had been able to open his restaurant and serve people outside.

He told fans that it was “ace” to be open and serving customers again, after months of closure and uncertainty.
