Kevin Costners divorce has nothing to do with Yellowstone

Yellowstone: Kevin Costner discusses show airing in the UK

Kevin Costner’s shock divorce was confirmed just days before news broke that Yellowstone is set to end after its current season.

The close proximity of these events got people speculating as to whether they are connected, particularly following reports last year that Christine, 49, had issued an ultimatum to Kevin, 68, to quit the show.

A source had told RadarOnline: “It’s really knocked a hole in their family life…

“She wants a firm commitment this is his last season — or he might have to hit the dusty trail.”

However, a source now insists that their divorce “has nothing to do with Yellowstone,” adding to People: “The two situations are unrelated.”

The couple confirmed the split earlier this week with a cryptic statement which read: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”

The rumour mill was subsequently said into overdrive, with some news outlets alleging that The Bodyguard star had got one of his co-stars pregnant.

Nevertheless, Kevin’s representatives were quick to quash the story.

They told MailOnline: “The rumour regarding Mr Costner impregnating a woman on the set of Yellowstone is absolutely not true and is defamatory.”

Kevin and Christine married in 2004 after meeting on a golf course in the late 1990s.

Their wedding was a lavish affair complete with a horse-drawn carriage on his Aspen ranch. They went on to have three children: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12.

Although Yellowstone will be wrapping up with the upcoming second half of season five, an untitled sequel is in the works.

It is expected to come out in December and reports have said Matthew McConaughey could be attached to the project.

“Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits – from 1883 to Tulsa King.

“I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life,” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.
