Made In Chelsea to broadcast three-way kiss between male throuple
EXCLUSIVE: Made In Chelsea to become first UK show in TV history to broadcast three-way kiss between male throuple as Channel 4 hire ‘Queer Expert’ to oversee storyline
Made In Chelsea have hired a ‘Queer Expert’ to oversee a TV first – a gay throuple storyline.
Channel 4 bosses consulted the specialist to ensure sensitivities surrounding the groundbreaking plot were met but admit they’re still expecting Ofcom complaints from viewers.
The show’s stars Joel Mignott, 27, Robbie Mullett, 23, and newcomer Geronimo Mörtl, 22, decided to bring their three-way relationship to the real-life drama and the new series filmed in Corsica will screen an intimate kissing scene involving the trio.
In a reality TV first, the upcoming season, which begins on Sunday, will explore the dynamic of a three-way relationship, with model Joel saying Channel 4 have done their utmost to ensure the personal storyline is portrayed in the best possible light.
Joel told MailOnline: ‘I am not apprehensive about Ofcom complaints because Channel 4 have done everything they can to help us through this process.

‘We even had a queer specialist who was consulting us on any emotional struggles we were going through while filming the series and afterwards.
‘The channel has endeavoured to really be on our side in this storyline. If other people have negative complaints, then I don’t care because Channel 4 have worked with us tirelessly to portray this story in the best possible light.
‘Being a gay person, you are more prepared for trolling because you are in the minority. I don’t read the comments… my mum does. But Robbie and I are in this together, so we have got each other’s backs.’
The new E4 series sees the cast of glamorous reality stars take to Corsica in France, where they lived together for six weeks in several villas.
Joel and Robbie, who are in a committed relationship, met single model Geronimo and they established a romantic connection.
During one scene, Joel and Robbie kiss each other and then Geronimo as the couple explored their sexual boundaries with the cameras rolling.
Joel explained that their attraction begun as friendship, but their ‘sweet’ bond grew into sexual chemistry, which they decided to act on.
He said: ‘It was a friendship at first. We took it slow, there was never any pressure to do anything. We would ask, “are you okay with this?”
Geronimo, who says he loves men and women in equal measure, joined the series of Made In Chelsea filmed in Corsica and became a ‘blessing in disguise’ for couple Joel and Robbie
Joel says not only did he receive support from his fellow cast mates, but some future offers too, including from Olivia Bentley, who’s previously dated men and women

‘It was very slow, very sweet, very communicative. There were moments where we would stop and chat. It wasn’t just about the sex but what it all meant to us.
‘Robbie loved flirting with somebody and having someone around us that was interested in us and getting to know somebody new in a safe space.’
Made In Chelsea became the first reality series to screen a same-sex wedding after Ollie Locke and husband Gareth got married in 2020.
Ollie also discovered his sexuality on the show, later coming out as gay, and the couple are now expecting twins together, after documenting their emotional journey with surrogacy.
Following Ollie and Gareth’s departure from Made In Chelsea, Joel hopes the throuple storyline will give the gay community an example of a relationship with a different dynamic.
He said: ‘It is groundbreaking. I don’t recall ever seeing anything like this as a young gay kid growing up.
‘To be a part of something that could educate people and be a point of reference for young gay boys then I am so proud to be a part of that.
‘There’s a narrative that is pushed in society that is all about monogamy, but monogamy doesn’t work for everybody and that’s why marriages break up. There’s a lot of shame around anything other than that… we hope to change that perception.’

Joel says his summer of love with Robbie has only strengthened their relationship.
He admits having no fears over the storyline airing because he enjoys challenging social norms, explaining: ‘My number one reservation is always protecting my relationship. I love being in a relationship.
‘I am happy to share this story because it is something that I didn’t witness growing up and it challenges the social norms and as a gay person that’s what I’m all about. It’s about being a rebel in society.’
And Joel says not only did he receive support from his fellow cast mates, but some future offers too, including from Olivia Bentley, who’s previously dated men and women.
He joked: ‘Even Olivia Bentley wanted in!’
