Marie Osmond asks for prayers for granddaughter in NICU

Marie Osmond is asking her fans for prayers after her newborn granddaughter was placed in the NICU.

“Asking for prayers for my precious granddaughter born this evening 6lbs 10 ounces,” she tweeted Thursday night. “So thankful she was able to be taken to children’s ICU in one of our amazing [Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals] #gratitude that she is in their care!??? ♥️.”

Osmond, 65, did not elaborate on the infant’s condition. Her rep didn’t immediately respond to a request for further detail.

According to People, the baby’s parents are Osmond’s 21-year-old daughter Brianna Blosil Schwep and her 42-year-old cinematographer husband Dave Schwep. Per a baby registry Dave linked to on his Instagram page, Brianna delivered a week-and-a-half late, as she was due on May 13.

Brianna and Dave tied the knot in December, with Osmond writing on Instagram at the time: “It was an amazing and glorious day!!! We love you both so much and eternally♥️.” In March, the singer posted photos from Brianna’s baby shower and called it “a special time celebrating my next grandbaby!!”

Osmond, who is set to join “The Talk” in place of Sara Gilbert this fall, is the mother of eight children.
