Royal fans have been waiting for the first photos of Baby Sussex aka Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were expecting a baby back in October. Their son was a little overdue, but he’s finally here, weighing 7 lbs. and 3 oz.
After the palace shared the news on Monday, Prince Harry said, “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I can ever have possibly imagined….We’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful for all the love and support of everybody out there.”
Fast-forward two days, Meghan and Harry arranged to have a few photos taken with Archie at their home, so it’s time to check ’em out and make a collective “awww” sound while body language expert Blanca Cobb breaks everything down.
Even though Meghan and Harry are walking toward a formal interview and photo opp, Blanca pointed out how Meghan has such a genuine smile, which is just all kinds of adorable.
Blanca explained, “She has her hand on Harry’s back, which is maintaining a connection that’s loving and also reassuring. And she’s looking at her baby as they’re walking. She’s definitely focusing her attention on what’s important to her at that moment, and that’s their son.”

In a video taken by the sole TV reporter there, you can see Harry swaying and rocking the baby, which is a clear sign that he’s in tune with his son. Even if you’re supposed to give an interview with reporters, “you don’t disrupt the peace or the happiness of the baby,” Blanca said. Preach! Let’s not make the baby cry!
Aside from their facial expressions and movements, Blanca said one of the best ways to tell how someone is feeling is by looking at their hands, which she calls “an emotional barometer.” If you look closely at Meghan and Harry’s hands in these photos, they’re totally relaxed.
“If you look at his fingers…there’s no stress or tension.” She added, “There’s a natural curvature in his fingers, you can see how his thumb is resting on the blanket, how his left hand is underneath his right hand.” And while Harry’s holding Archie, Meghan’s hands are touching what’s most important to her—her son and husband.
One thing that Blanca tends to look for when analyzing people’s body language is the direction that their bodies are facing. Since this is a formal engagement, she warns everyone not to read too much into how they’re facing the cameras and not at each other.
Plus, the way Harry is looking at Meghan shows how proud he is of her. Blanca explained, “He is taking her all in. He’s very happy, and I think he is very proud. They still maintain that contact with each other, which is fabulous to see.”
Okay, I’m going to go grab a box of tissues now, because this sounds like the most beautiful thing ever. Welcome to the world, baby Archie!
