Rachel Riley, 35, is expecting her second baby with husband Pasha Kovalev, 41. The Countdown star has previously said their first baby Maven “stopped wriggling for a couple of days” when she was stressed from a flood of negative messages on Twitter.
It should be stopped
The Countdown star is no stranger to speaking up for what she believes in on the micro-blogging site, where she has 670,000 followers.
In recent years, she has continued to campaign against antisemitism in the Labour party.
But with this, she has suffered abuse which left her “very stressed and upset” during her first pregnancy.
In a new interview, Pasha said he is worried about history repeating itself as he discussed the effects of online trolling.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, who is backing The Mirror’s Stop Online Hate campaign, said: “I definitely can see how it stresses her.
“The smallest stress affects how the baby’s development is going.”
He added: “If you come up to someone on the street and tell them something like that, you’re probably going to get some sort of repercussion. You’d be held accountable for your actions.
“Online there’s a limited amount of repercussion, and it opens a floodgate. It should be stopped.”
Earlier this week, Rachel was trending on Twitter, where she was inundated with more hateful comments.
But refusing to let the trolls get to her, she said she has to “be a role model” and stand against such behaviour.
“I’ve developed a thick skin but now I never see a lot of things, even nice stuff, which is a shame because I used to use Twitter to help children with maths homework,” she added.
Rachel announced her second pregnancy in the form of a conundrum on the show’s famous board earlier this month.

The maths whizz beamed for the camera as she proudly cradled her blossoming bump.
The former Strictly star encouraged her fans to unravel the conundrum, which turned out to be ‘fertility’.
In view of her 503,000 followers, she wrote: “And your clue is… Riley had this to thank for the reason her clothes no longer fit her.
“And it’ll only get worse till Autumn!”
The presenter followed up her post with a side view of her bump, from the studio.
She commented: “Nice being able to breathe again at work! No more stomach holding in, phew!”
Rachel and Pasha got together after performing together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013.
They welcomed their first child in 2019, the same year they got married in secret in Las Vegas.
