James Haskell, 36, married Chloe Haskell, 33, back in 2018, and has always been open in the past about his close relationship with her parents. In an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk, the former England rugby player discussed their dynamic.

James opened up about how the broadcasting legends were “fantastic” and “down to Earth” people.

He explained of their relationship: “It’s good, I mean as good as any relationship with your in-laws.

“They’re brilliant, lovely and very supportive, very kind and welcoming.

“[They’re] everything you would ordinarily expect them to be and obviously they’re fantastic down to earth people, very intelligent, legitimate journalists in their own right.

“So yeah it’s always good, I always have a lot of fun when I’m there.”

Richard and Judy have been in the public eye since they began working on Granada Television in the early 1980s.

They hosted This Morning together from 1988 until 2001 and their own chat show from 2001 to 2009.

However, James also opened up about how sometimes it’s not easy having famous in-laws.

This came as he recalled a humorous situation he found himself in when he went to visit them earlier this year.

He ended up in the papers after being spotted chasing down his dog after he ran away.

James revealed: “We went out to see Chloe’s parents and we obviously ended up in the newspaper as my dog ran away.

“And there was a photographer, hiding in a car outside their house, as they usually do.

“So that was quite fun, chasing him around and trying to keep my composure.”

Elsewhere, James opened up about keeping fit in the public eye.

The rugby player turned DJ often shares his fitness journey with his 544,000 Instagram followers.

And given Chloe is a fitness instructor and nutritionist, this is something that plays a big part in his life.

However, James admitted there are a lot of pressures that come with sharing this on social media.

He’s also had to deal with a great deal of trolling over his time in the public eye as well.

He explained: “We’ve lost our way a little bit I think in terms of people in the context of social media and the media as a whole about what’s healthy and what’s not healthy.

“I think, no one should ever tell you what you should look like because beauty is in the eye of the beholder, your perception of what you think looks good.

“No one should ever do that, you should be comfortable in your body.”
