Sara Davies, 37, and her pro partner, Aljaž, 31, were left in tears after the first elimination round of Strictly Come Dancing 2021. The Dragons’ Den star admitted it had been “really hard” to gather the self-confidence to return to the dance floor after being in “that space at the bottom” in the first week.

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman after her Foxtrot, Sara said: “It’s really hard to go from that space at the bottom and have the self-confidence to go and do it.”

Amid a frenzied applause from members of the audience, Claudia responded: “We are feeling for you.”

She continued: “Aljaz it is down to your teaching.

“It is your favourite dance. Did you always know that Sara was a ballroom girl?”

Aljaz explained: “Look, it’s not down to my teaching.

“We’re always the best plus-ones we can possibly be.

“But I knew from day one that we’re going to love this dance and to be teaching you it’s a privilege, it’s a joy.

“And at that moment right there… it made me cry halfway through and it wasn’t even finished yet.

“No one can take that away from us forever and I’m so happy and pleased that I was a part of that”

The pro joked: “And Gordon Ramsay’s here watching. Get in!”

The pair scored an impressive 34 in this week’s show.

Sara was off to a bad start after last week’s Cha Cha and received mixed feedback with a score of 17.

The businesswoman had been tipped as being the first contestant to leave the programme.

Betting company William Hill found she is the 2/1 “favourite” in this category.

However, this week’s dance has left fans confident Sara could soon lift the Glitterball Trophy.

Some viewers took to Twitter to share their enthusiasm over tonight’s score.

“She’s amaze! What a queen!”

steinyK commented: “Sara Davies – What a transformation!! What a difference a week makes. Amazing.”
