The Hollyoaks actress took to Instagram on Friday to share a number of shocking images as she reflected upon her turbulent past relationship ahead of this year’s British Soap Awards.
Stephanie Davis – who plays Sinead O’Connor on the show – uploaded multiple snaps of herself in a hospital bed showing her bruised body as she recalled her previous abuse.
The 26-year-old – who is nominated for Best Actress at the ceremony – also revealed how grateful she is to have her life back on track after finding love with new boyfriend Owen Warner.
Next to the pics, the TV star told her 915,000 followers: “So… Tomorrow night is the Soap Awards. I just wanna say a massive Thank you to everyone who voted for me! All your support has meant the world to me, seriously.”
She continued: “For where I am in life now, I’m winning. It’s all about my beautiful baby boy and if I’ve made him proud, then that’s all that matters!
“I’ve overcome so much; physical abuse, broken nose broken ribs, severed tendons in my hand, bitten face, bust lip, the list goes on. The worst mental abuse I wouldn’t wish on anyone, pregnant alone for nine months, giving birth alone, lies and manipulation, Lies in the press, drinking to block the trauma and PTSD.
“I struggled (with) being a single mum, but I have done it, I’ve been knocked down massively but got back up and got back up & got back up again.”
Steph went on to explain how her life has turned around and she’s in a much better place before gushing over her adorable son, Caben.
The stunner continued: “Caben has a happy mummy (still a tired one haha, but happy) [sic]. I met my best friend Owen and I finally, finally got my happy ending! I gave my storyline I had my absolute all, my aim was to help people and it has! Goal reached!
“And I’m proud of my self for going over it all again. I still have bad days and need to remind my self of how far I’ve come, but that’s okay because I’m here, I’m alive, I’m sober and I’m helping others with my story, and I have the most beautiful family I could ever have wished for.”
She added: “Here is to the strong people out there, may you continue fighting. Thank you all for the amount of love and care you have shown me. I can’t wait to sit back, relax and enjoy the soap awards with my love Owen.”
The actress went on to wish her fellow nominee’s good luck at tonight’s awards before paying tribute to her son, adding: “Everything I do, I do for you.”
Her powerful post comes a year after returning to screens following the breakdown of her relationship with Celebrity Big Brother co-star Jeremy McConnell.
The couple began dating in the house and later welcomed son Caben-Albi together before things turned sour.
In 2017, Irish model Jeremy was found guilty of attacking Steph in their Merseyside home while she was holding their eight-week-old son.
He served 34 days of a 20-week sentence after breaching his community service order.
Speaking about the ordeal on The Jeremy Kyle show, he said: “I’m not violent to women. That was an incident that happened. I was convicted of a crime and I’ve done my punishments.”
Steph’s Best Actress nomination comes after she’s portrayed a dark rape storyline on Hollyoaks.
