Stormzy hires a monkey for his video clip

Stormzy ‘sparks backlash as he hires a monkey to help him prepare a joint in new music video’ – after previously encouraging people to QUIT ‘smoking weed’

Stormzy has reportedly used a monkey to help him prepare a cannabig joint in his new music video.

The Big For Your Boots singer, 29, made an unusual choice for his upcoming video clip as he was seen filming with the monkey that handled cannabis paraphernalia.

According to The Sun, a concerned label executive revealed the video’s director aimed to show the monkey how to use a ‘weed grinder’ as he sat next to Stormzy.

The cannabis equipment will appear in the music video to a new track, over lyrics referring to rolling cigarettes.

In the song – which is yet to be released – the rapper says: ‘I’m the black Kate Bush, the mandem don’t talk, they whoosh. I don’t jump on a tune and talk about shush.’

Stormzy’s new song will be his first release since his third chart-topping LP This Is What I Mean that came out in November.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Stormzy for comment.

Although for many it might appear as a bold choice, it actually comes three years after he inspired people to stop smoking marijuana in a heartfelt speech.

During a talk at South London charity Carney’s Community, he said: ‘If you’ve got mental health problems, stop smoking weed. It’s not good for your mental health.’

‘I have suffered with mental health problems for the past few years. When I used to feel depressed, I’d lock myself away and smoke weed and I’d just get worse and worse and worse.

‘It does not help your situation. It will f**k you up. It feels good for 20 minutes, then after that . . . we all know, us weed smokers, we know how it goes,’ the rapper said – not too long ago.

The Vossi Bop rapper has been a victim of the spotlight again after he was caught in an awkward gaffe earlier last week.

Stormzy was forced to get help from hotel staff after his flash £200,000 yellow Lamborghini became stuck between two cars in an awkward gaffe.

Back on? His latest outing comes after it was reported that Stormzy and his ex-girlfriend Maya Jama are back in regular contact, sparking reconciliation rumours

The rapper was leaving the 2023 Ivor Novello Awards at London’s Grosvenor Hotel when the awkward mishap occurred.

Stormzy was seen getting his keys back from a valet and heading to his very lavish yellow sports car, which was parked very closely between two other vehicles.

When he tried to reverse the flash car, it became stuck between a parked car behind him and the vehicle next to him, giving him no room to maneuver his Lamborghini.

His luxury car was reportedly stuck for around 15 minutes and hotel staff were forced to help by moving one of the other vehicles to clear a path for the star to leave.

Stormzy’s flash yellow Lamborghini is estimated to cost between £190,000 to £230,000 but the vehicles can re-sell for as much as £260,000.

His latest outing comes after it was reported that Stormzy and his ex-girlfriend Maya Jama are back in regular contact, sparking reconciliation rumours.

The former couple dated for four years before parting ways in 2019, with the rapper publicly declaring he has ‘never loved anyone how I’ve loved her’.

Maya’s team previously shut down relationship speculation after they were linked last year insisting at the time they were just friends, but insiders now claim they have been enjoying spending time together at his house.

It comes after Love Island host Maya, 28, was linked to Leonardo DiCaprio, 48, after the two were spotted partying together in London on two different nights, during BAFTAs weekend in February.

The actor then hit back at claims that he has been seeing the presenter after they were introduced by mutual friends.
