Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally welcomed their first baby together.
The happy news was reported on May 6, with the royal family’s Twitter account revealing that “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz and The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth.”
Reactions from members of the royal family have started to filter through, especially since Meghan and Harry revealed the sex of their baby with an Instagram announcement. On Twitter, it was announced: “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Princess Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, also shared Meghan and Harry’s birth announcement, along with the caption, “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of your baby boy!”
And in an interview following the birth, Prince Harry expressed his excitement about welcoming his first child. He told the BBC (via Omid Scobie on Twitter), “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension… I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.”
