TV presenter Fern Britton, 64, looks glitzier than ever as she prepares to take the stage for ITV’s All Star Musicals at Christmas. Fern will embark on the ultimate theatre masterclass and hopefully steal the show with her role in Mamma Mia.

In teasers for the festive show, Fern can be seen covered in sparkle and sequins in an ABBA-inspired black jumpsuit.

The host swapped her trademark bobbed hair with long, blonde extensions which were styled into tight waves.

Fern said she is thrilled to be taking part in the musical spectacular.

She exclaimed: “A chance to dress up and dance with a full orchestra! What a Christmas present!”

Other celebrities taking the stage include actor Ben Miller, former MP Gyles Brandreth, presenter Anita Rani, Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley, and sports presenter Radzi Chinyanganya.

They will be mentored by musical theatre legends; Elaine Page, Les Misérables star Samantha Barks and Aladdin actor Trevor Dion Nicholas.

The celebs will be supported by a full West End ensemble, a live orchestra, and, in the lead up to their big performance, also receive training from esteemed West End choreographers and vocal coaches.

The musical numbers performed will be from iconic shows including Cats, Moana and The Rocky Horror Show.

Pregnant Catherine Tyldesley is set to perform a number from Cats, but has admitted the process did not go as well as she hoped.

Speaking to Lorraine, Catherine said the first three months of her pregnancy had been tough as she had been “quite sick” and had suffered from insomnia.

The actress found the show particularly challenging because her “organs were moving around” all over the place.

She explained: “Everything changes when you’re singing and engaging different muscles and all the organs are moving around and it does feel quite different.”

However, she said she learned “so much” from her idol Elaine, who is famed for her role as Grizabella.

Catherine gushed: “I felt like I learned so much from Elaine. It was an amazing opportunity.

“Memory is one of my favourite songs and what better person to learn from?

“I loved singing so much and I’ve been really lucky with TV and film. Musical theatre is something I’ve always wanted to do but I’ve never had the time.

“I love it and Elaine was one of my biggest inspirations, I love her, she’s amazing so when the opportunity came up, I thought, ‘This is incredible.’”

The star-studded show will feature performances from host John Barrowman, who will team up with Elaine, Samantha and Trevor to open the show with a Greatest Showman medley.

All Star Musicals at Christmas will air on Boxing Day at 8pm on ITV and the ITV Hub.
