YouTuber and makeup artist Mel Thompson dies aged 35

Popular YouTuber and makeup artist Mel Thompson has died aged 35, her husband has confirmed.

The online star died on Sunday, September 26, with her cause of death yet to be announced.

Puffin Thompson confirmed the news on his wife’s Instagram account, which had nearly 58,000 followers, and shared pictures of them together, with their four children, and their friends.

He wrote: ‘Mel sadly passed away yesterday. It’s really hard to just choose 10 photos. We lost a beautiful person. I just wanted to show the smiles she brought. I’ve had to answer so many texts of people just checking in on her without even knowing of her passing. It’s great to see how loved she was. And she loved all you right back. I’ll continue to love her and miss her forever.

‘She was such a pillar for our family. The kids would talk to her non stop and she was constantly talking with them and trying to help them with their stuff. And no matter how bad she felt, she would still rub my back when I came and jumped on the bed next to her while she was working tirelessly to put out content.

‘Everybody knows how talented she was as an artist and with her helpful knowledge, but those closest to her know how truly wonderful she was. She would have done anything to help anyone without a second thought. I wish I had her back.’

Fellow YouTuber Nikkia Joy wrote: ‘I am in utter shock💔This is the most heart breaking news😭I am so so sorry for your loss, the world will not be the same without Mel’, while Jaime French wrote: ‘Oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear this and so shocked. She was such a sweet and wonderful, beautiful person. My prayers are with your family.’

Social media star Robert Welsh added: ‘This is such heartbreaking news. Mel was such a wonderful person. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.’

Thompson attracted nearly 60,000 Instagram followers and 170,000 YouTube subscribers with her makeup tutorials, and had designed her own eyeshadow palette called Tiny Marvels inspired by her love of bugs and brightly coloured tattoos.

Her last YouTube video, a tutorial featuring makeup artist Wayne Goss’s new palettes and kohl pencils, was uploaded on September 24, while Thompson shared a selfie to Instagram a week ago.

The vlogger referred to her followers as ‘Beauties’, who have been sharing their condolences online.

The mother-of-four, who resided in Tennessee with her family, largely kept her personal life off social media, but in August 2020, she revealed she had been suffering from health issues, specifically seizures.

Thompson wrote: ‘I am having a lot of health issues. One main issue being seizures. I had 2 on my birthday and was in the hospital. Last night, I had another one. I’m ok. I just can’t keep pushing myself and I need to rest.’
