Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet was treated to a pink car for her first birthday, insider reveals

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry were absent from yesterday’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations as they were busy celebrating their daughter’s birthday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s youngest child Lilibet turned one yesterday, and it seems that the tot was in for some real treats.

A source close to the couple spoke exclusively to The Sun where they revealed what the one-year-old was expected to receive in the form of presents.

The source revealed: “As her first birthday is such a milestone, there was lots of discussion ahead of time about the presents that she would be given on the day.

“One idea that proved very popular was a £75 pink Volkswagen Beetle ride-on toy, which had been spotted in Selfridges.”

The insider revealed that the party was a low-key affair.

"But there was no formal entertainment. The idea was for it to be very relaxed and casual, with people free to pop in and out as they wished.

“It was a nice opportunity for the other royal children to meet Lilibet for the first time.”

Little Lilibet, named after the monarch's own childhood nickname, is in the UK for the first time in her life amid the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

And while she and brother Archie, three, have not been seen in public, it's understood the Queen, 96, finally got the chance to meet Meghan and Harry's little girl as they returned to Britain to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Her Majesty yesterday wished her great-granddaughter happy birthday as she turned one, with the family expected to celebrate the milestone privately.

No pictures have been released of Archie and Lilibet since they touched down in the UK earlier this week.

In a tweet, the monarch sent her well wishes to the royal tot alongside a balloon emoji.

It reads: "Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!"

Lilibet's uncle and aunt Prince William and Kate Middleton also shared a message on the platform, which said: "Wishing a very happy birthday to Lilibet, turning one today!"

And Prince Charles and wife Camilla wrote: "Wishing Lilibet a very happy 1st birthday today!"

It comes after The Sun revealed the Queen HAS met her great-granddaughter – named Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in her honour.
