Meghan Markle’s best friend says she’s ‘just as human as the rest of us’ in candid Instagram post

MEGHAN Markle's close friend and make-up artist has taken to his social media account to stand up against her critics.

After appearing on a one-hour CBS News Special with Gayle King with a selection of Meghan's closest friends, Daniel Martin has now written an honest Instagram post defending the Duchess once again and thanking the host for helping him to speak out.

Posting to his Instagram last night, he wrote: "Let's not forget they're just as human as the rest of us. I can't control what's been said and twisted in the press, but I'm grateful she [Gayle] gave me the opportunity to try and change the perception. Thank you Gayle."

Daniel – the mastermind behind Meghan's wedding makeup – claimed he felt empowered by fellow friend Gayle King, another attendee at Meghan's baby shower, to share his opinion.

He wrote: "If it wasn't for @gayleking I wouldn't have had the courage to speak my truth about our dear friend.

"I was hesitant to share this experience publicly today because I too have received so much negativity, trolling and threats for speaking out and sticking up for her."

If it wasn’t for @gayleking I wouldn’t have had the courage to speak my truth about our dear friend.I was hesitant to share this experience publicly today because I too have received so much negativity, trolling and threats for speaking out and sticking up for her. The passion and love the world has for them is immeasurable. But at the same time, let’s not forget they’re just as human as the rest of us. I can’t control what’s been said and twisted In the press, but I’m grateful she gave me this opportunity to try and change the perception. Thank you Gayle ?

The Dior Brand Ambassador also disabled the comments on the post, leaving no room for negativity or trolls.

So far, the candid post has managed to get over 2,500 likes.

He also writes that he is trying to "change the perception" of the Duchess, after months of negative speculation and sources claiming she is 'difficult'.

The pair first met in 2011 and Daniel worked on a number of red carpet events with Meghan prior to meeting Harry.

In an old blog post, the Duchess once wrote of the celebrity make-up artist: “I love this man, and not in that industry way of saying you ‘love’ someone as casually as you order your macchiato.

"I actually love this guy.”

In similar news, it was revealed that Meghan gave Archie the middle name Harrison as a "tribute to her favourite Beatle".

His moniker is also believed to be a tribute to Princess Diana, who has an ancestor called Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll.

And we exclusively revealed how Meghan and Harry named Archie after army hero and the Duke's mentor who got him deployed in Afghanistan.
