New parents claims this ‘magic hold’ instantly calms screaming babies

A NEW mum and dad were left amazed after trying a “magic hold” on their baby which they had heard stops infants from screaming instantly.

They decided to give it a go, and to their shock, their youngster immediately became silent and stopped crying.

Taking to TikTok, mum-of-three Christy Keane shared a video of the moment, with the caption: “What is this sorcery?”

In the video, she wrote: “We tried the magic hold that is supposed to instantly stop a newborn from crying.”

The dad is holding the screaming baby in his arms, but turns the little girl over so she is facing forwards.

One hand is under her legs, and the other is supporting her arms and chin at the front, and the dad slowly jiggles her to calm her down.

Within seconds of being in the position, the baby stops crying.

Comments have been disabled on the video, but it has racked up over a million views.

Dr. Robert Hamilton of Pacific Ocean Pediatrics in Santa Monica shared the baby-calming technique online.

First you need to fold the baby's arms across the chest and then secure the arms and hold the chin with one hand, while using your dominant hand to hold the baby's bottom.

Then you need to gently rock the baby at a 45-degree angle to help pacify them.

Dr Hamilton claims the method works for  babies up to 2 to 3 months old, and said: "Everything you do is very gentle. You don't want to do jerky motions ever."

We shared the moment a genius dad got his crying son to stop wailing by playing back a recording of his screams.

And a neighbour was left in tears after tired mum sends apologetic note saying she’s trying the ‘cry-it-out’ method to her kid sleeping.
