DEAR DEIDRE: COVID took the life of my wonderful wife two weeks ago.
She was in an induced coma and on a ventilator for five weeks after being rushed to hospital.
We prayed she would turn a corner, but her body wasn’t strong enough.
Thankfully, I was able to be with her at the end, but I feel I didn’t get to say goodbye properly.
She was only 60 and so loved by me and our children.
I am 62 and I feel lost without her. I never imagined she would go first and leave me alone.
After 35 years of marriage, we still had so much living to do and so many plans for our retirement.
My heart is breaking.

DEIDRE SAYS: I am so sorry. This is a devastating loss for you and your family.
Your emotions are raw.
You are in shock – the first stage of grief – that someone you love has been taken from you.
My support pack Coping With Bereavement explains all the stages we go through as we grieve for someone we love, and suggests organisations that can help.
It will take time, but with support you can come through this.
