Duchess Meghan shares a sweet new photo of baby Archie to celebrate her first Mother’s Day

Duchess Meghan Markle is celebrating her first Mother’s Day!

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, officially joined motherhood with the birth of Archie Harrison just days before Mother’s Day is observed in the United States, although the U.K. celebrated the special day on March 31 this year.

In honor of the holiday, the new parents shared a sweet picture Sunday of Meghan cradling the royal baby’s little toes on their official Instagram account, @sussexroyal.

The touching post also paid homage to Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, by showcasing her favorite flowers in the background: forget-me-nots.

“Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered,” the royal couple’s caption read. “We honor and celebrate each and every one of you.”

“Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe,” the caption added, noting this is “the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.”

Meghan and Prince Harry, 34, concluded their message by sharing a quote from the 2013 poem “lands,” written by Nayyirah Waheed: “My mother was my first country; the first place i ever lived.”

The doting royals introduced Archie to the world – as well as his maternal grandmother, Doria Ragland, and his paternal great-grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip – Wednesday after Markle gave birth on May 6.

“It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing!” the Duchess said while introducing their newborn for the cameras. “I have the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy.”

Prince Harry is equally over the moon. “Parenting is amazing. It’s only been – what, two-and-a-half days, three days – but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy. We have to spend some precious time with him as he slowly starts to grow up,” Harry said.
