DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE met a man who is into the same things as me, we have a similar outlook and get along well.
But I worry about the age gap. He’s 26, while I am 37.
He is not very experienced in relationships and has only had one previous girlfriend.
He says he is into older women.
Do you think it’s worth me giving it a go?
I am tempted but should I set him free so he can enjoy life and experience the world?

DEIDRE SAYS: The age gap alone need not be a barrier to a good and lasting relationship but it makes it even more important than usual to check out what you are both looking for in the longer term.
You say you have similar interests. But would you like to start a family before too long? How would he feel about that?
Or does he want to plan for children and you’ve decided against?
My e-leaflet Do Age Gaps Matter? can help you talk it all over.
