MARTIN Lewis' MoneySavingExpert has revealed how you can get a year's worth of 2 for 1 cinema tickets by spending little more than £1.
The money saving crew has unveiled the cheapest way you can cash in on ComparetheMarket's well known deal for visiting the flicks.
ComparetheMarket offers customers who purchase certain insurance and other products, various deals and rewards.
These can be from as small as a plush toy of the brand's meerkat mascots, or it can be the offer of 2for1 cinema tickets on a Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year.
The average price of a seat in front of the big screen cost around £6.75 in 2020, according to Statista.
That racks up to £175.50 a year, if you go to the cinema once a fortnight.
The deal a good way to halve those costs over a year, especially if you have a mate dying to tag along to the movies with you.
You can also get the deal by using the site's switching service, or applying for any other type of financial product.
However, ComparetheMarket did temporarily turn off its energy switching service last month amid the chaos of the energy crisis and subsequent fall of now 10 energy suppliers.
It's back online now though and you can use it to find deals for energy as well as car, motorcycle, home, van, pet, landlord, life, home or travel insurance.
The tool can also help you find the best deals when taking out a credit card or loan, or switching TV or broadband supplier.
The movie deal is available when using the switching tool for any of these products.
Brits are currently facing rocketing costs across energy and household bills, so switching around on any of these products can be a good way to lower costs – and cashing in on the freebies and rewards is a great bonus, too.
But the MoneySavingTeam warns that you shouldn't choose a deal on the site just because of the Meerkat Movies discount.
Instead you should always shop around first and find the best deal for you.
You can use other comparison sites like Uswitch and GoCompare to get a better idea of what offers are available.
How do I get 2for1 tickets by spending just over £1?
MoneySavingExpert revealed that buying one night’s UK travel insurance for one person could mean you qualify for the year-long 2for1 deal.
The team posted the bargain find on the MoneySavingExert deal hunters' blog and shared the news on Martin's own Twitter account last night.
The money saving team checked last Friday and found that the cheapest single-trip travel insurance policy was just£1.01.
It's the cheapest product on ComparetheMarket's site that qualifies for Meerkat Movies, according to MoneySavingExpert's latest research.
It's also more than £5 cheaper than the average cinema ticket price we found, so you only need to use the deal once to get your money's worth.
You don't have to be travelling to buy the insurance, so you are effectively buying a product you don't need – but some film fans may decide it's worth it for the deal.
If you do need just a day's worth of travel insurance though, then you won't be wasting any money at all and the deal works out to be a massive bargain bonus.
It's not the only trick the MoneySavingExpert team has revealed to help consumers get the best bargains. It's also shared how you can get freebies on your birthday.
You can also get free food using cashback sites, according to the money saving guru Martin.
