Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took another step towards greater independence after it was revealed that Prince Chares has removed their names from his official website. The move comes months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their decision to split houses from Prince William and Kate Middleton, which is one of the reasons why they are no longer on Charles’ website.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry divide houses
A few months ago, Markle and Harry made the decision to create their own house apart from William and Middleton. The move, which was approved by Queen Elizabeth, means that the couple will have their own team of staff members that manage their royal office.
It also requires their own web presence, a service that waspreviously fulfilled under Charles’ website. Now that Meghan Markle and Prince Harryare building their own house, they no longer need to use Charles’ website to dobusiness.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also setting up shop in a completely different location than William and Middleton, who have been using Kensington Palace for business. Harry and Markle are moving their office to Buckingham Palace, and their team will be under the umbrella of Her Majesty. This is partly why their names are no longer on Charles’ website, as they will now be reporting directly to Elizabeth’s staff.
“The Queen has given permission for the Duke and Duchess ofSussex to base their Household Office at Buckingham Palace,” an officialstatement read. “Their Royal Highnesses will appoint new communications staff, who will form part of the Buckingham Palace communications team and report tothe Queen’s communications Secretary, Donal McCabe.”
The statement added that Harry and Markle will continue touse Kensington Palace resources until their new team is up and running.
Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s curious split
Harry and Markle confirmed their split from William andMiddleton in June. At the time, the couple announced their plan to create a newcharitable organization named the Sussex Royal Foundation. According to Express, many royal watchers labeled the move as curious and were uncertain what itmeans for the royal family moving forward.
Although the decision to venture out on their own seemedfairly straight forward, the recent move by Charles caught many by surprise andcould have serious consequences for the couple.

The Duke of Sussex attends the ‘Our Planet’ premiere at the Natural History Museum with The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge, lending their joint support for the protection of our environment. As president of @africanparksnetwork, The Duke of Sussex continues to advocate for the communities and wildlife that coexist in some of the most vulnerable environments around the world. Be it human wildlife conflict or natural disasters, these communities (park rangers, school children, families) are on the frontline of conservation and we must do more to help them as we also work to safeguard the animals and landscapes that are in critical danger. A few recent photos that look back on: Prince Harry’s long time commitment to this cause as well as a glimpse into the work he and The Duchess of Sussex did in 2017. Their Royal Highnesses travelled to Botswana to assist Dr. Mike Chase of Elephants Without Borders in equipping a bull elephant with a satellite collar. Approximately 100 elephants are poached/killed every day for their ivory tusks. Using satellite technology allows conservationists to track their critical migratory patterns and to protect them and the local communities from human wildlife conflict. The elephant pictured was sedated for just 10 minutes before he was up and back with his herd. Tracking his movements has allowed conservationists to better protect him and other elephants and ensure heightened protection for these beautiful creatures moving forward. Photo credit: PA, Image 1
Charles currently pays for most of William and Prince Harry’sexpenses, though removing Harry from his website could be a sign that thingsare going to change. It is possible that Charles will no longer foot the billfor Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. If this is true, then it may be connected tothe idea that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan on spending significant timeabroad every year.
The two are scheduled to tour Africa this spring and arerumored to be purchasing a second home in Los Angeles so that Markle can becloser to her mother, Doria Ragland. If that is the case, then perhaps Charleshas started the process of distancing himself from any potential controversies.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle unfollow everyone on Instagram
In addition to having their names removed from Charles’website, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently unfollowed everyone onInstagram. The two previously followed several charitable organizations andwere rotating that list to give attention to different groups. But as of thefirst of August, they no longer follow anyone on their official Instagramaccount. Turns out, there is a very good reason why they cleared theirfollowers out.
The couple shared a post asking people to name organizationsthey believe should be spotlighted on their platform. The two plan on followingthese various groups over the next week or so in an effort to give a voice tocharities around the world.

Spotlight on: Smart Works We are proud to be supporting a very special initiative this autumn for @SmartWorksCharity! After quiet visits to Smartworks over the last year, The Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non profit organisation that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready. Throughout her visits she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily “suit” the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview. As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel ? as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market. The brands have come together to work towards this united force for good, “[reframing] the idea of charity as community,” as The Duchess writes in a piece for this month’s British Vogue. They will follow the 1:1 model where an item from the collection purchased is an item shared with a woman of Smart Works because “not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story; it reminds us we are in it together.” For more information on how you can be part of another woman’s success story visit @smartworkscharity. Special thanks to: @JohnLewisandPartners, @MarksandSpencer, @MishaNonoo, @InsideJigsaw for supporting this very special organisation. And to find out more, read the September issue of @BritishVogue and stay tuned for more exciting updates this autumn. Photo©️SussexRoyal
