My partner ended up with two black eyes after drunken fight with my son

DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner ended up with two black eyes and a cut to his head after a fight with my son.

Before their fallout, they got along well. Now my son, who is 20, insists I kick out my partner, though he came off much worse.

Unfortunately, both of them had been drinking and I was out at work.

My son was smoking in his bedroom with his girlfriend – which riled my partner, as we don’t allow this in the house.

My son is normally a good lad. He’s studying for a degree in sport but helps out at home.

After their fight my son stormed out and is now with my parents.

I have tried reasoning with him but he insists my partner is dangerous.

Yet my son didn’t have a mark on him while my boyfriend was left black and blue.

I feel caught in the middle and it’s breaking my heart. My partner, who makes me very happy, is 44. I’m 41.
