Can traditional roast potatoes be improved?
If you’re looking for a way to jazz up the Sunday lunch staple, Nigella Lawson may have the solution.
The celebrity chef recently cooked up salt and vinegar spuds.
You’ll get a chip shop flavour from the roasties, which are also different because they require steaming before they’re put into the oven.
On Instagram, Nigella wrote: “While steaming then roasting potatoes may seem rather a fandango, one bite of these will convince you that it's utterly worth it; besides, it's not as if you have to do anything while they either steam or roast.
“Go slowly when adding the salt and vinegar, tasting as you go, as I like these to have the wincing hit of salt and vinegar crisps, and you may prefer a lighter hand with the sprinkling.”
Nigella’s post has garnered more than 63,600 likes – and many love the idea.
One commenter gushed: “What dreams are made of.”

Thankfully, it doesn’t seem too difficult to whip them up.
You’ll only need baby new potatoes, olive oil, apple cider vinegar and sea salt flakes.
After steaming the spuds for 20-30 minutes, roast them in a tray and pour over the flavourings to finish off.
