Hooters is a notorious restaurant chain made popular by its scantily clad waitresses working in booty shorts.

While staff are thankful for the opportunities the job has given to them, some have shared what it's really like working for the brand.

From being called wh***es to receiving impressive tips, here are some details from behind the scenes you may not be aware of.

Tips galore

Jade Amber, who posts on her YouTube channel about working at Hooters, has revealed how much waitresses at the chain can earn in tips from just one night.

"My worst night or day would be like $25 (£18) to $50 (£37) and that's the worst-case scenario, ok,” she explained.

"Normally on those nights, I was cut or sent home because we were very slow and it was during a very slow season.

"Those days are super rare but they do happen."

She added: "An ok day would be like $95 (£70) to $125 (£92) because it's, like, 'Ok I made this amount of money but I know I can make more. But there were super bad days it's, like, 'Ok at least I made money'.

"But then there were better days. On a great day at Hooters I would make anywhere from like $150 (£110) to… it ranges honestly… like $150 to $400 (£295).

"I want to say really, really good days are like $500 (£368). The most I've ever made at Hooters is $900 (£662). One day I worked a double, I was a bartender in the morning and then I served."

Branded ‘wh***es’

A pair of Hooters waitresses hit back at trolls with a savage reply after they were branded “wh***s” due to their revealing uniforms.

Despite the chain’s popularity, Alley, 21, revealed that she receives some nasty messages simply for doing her job.

The employee and her co-worker took to TikTok to hit back at those dishing out cruel remarks with a rather sassy response.

Alley revealed with on-screen text that trolls said: “Y’all are wh***s for working at Hooters.”

However, the vicious comment about their choice of career has not got to the bombshells.

Defying the haters, the pair brutally snapped back and pointed out: “Don’t be mad when it’s YOUR dad paying our bills.”

The waitress claimed in the caption: “We have self-respect I promise.”

Paying for uniform

Hooters faced backlash after a waitress working for the chain claimed employees have to buy their own uniform tights from a vending machine.

In a viral TikTok video, user @kenzjee showed herself purchasing the hosiery from a vending machine in the restaurant bathroom.

The $5 (£3.70) tights must be worn as part of the uniform, which also consists of tiny orange shorts and a low-cut white shirt with the Hooters logo on it.

Many TikTok viewers were stunned to find out that the tights weren't provided by the company and that waitresses had to pay for them themselves.

Kenzjee explained that tights aren't provided for free is because they are considered 'undergarments,' so they have to 'sell them through a third party company.'

She also said that the item of clothing is tax deductible as a work-related expense.

However, many people still said that the company should not make their employees pay for the tights if they are required as part of the uniform.

Creepy comments

Hooters waitress Leah Fennelly, 23, previously told Daily Star about the inappropriate comments she receives from men while working at the notorious diner.

Her job isn't always easy, as she just hates the creepy comments her customers make.

“I’ve gotten the normal comments like ‘Are you on the menu?’ and ‘I want my wings hot and naked like you.’ You name it, I’ve heard it,” she said.

“I generally tend to laugh it off, but if it is extremely disrespectful.

“When I am being mistreated, which is very rare, I will get a manager to handle the situation.”

Thankfully, for the most part, Leah says customers are "respectful and nice".
