Brilliant sunshine has dazzled the UK for much of this week and much of the UK will see warmer weather this weekend too. However, the Met Office has warned of thundery conditions and strong winds sweeping in this weekend, so check your local weather report to find out what the forecast is like near you before making big plans. Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Matthew Lehnert, said: “Friday will be a cooler and more unsettled day for most as an Atlantic low pressure system moves to the northwest of the UK, replacing the warm air we’ve had for much of this week with fresher westerlies. This system will bring a spell of strong winds and a risk of gales to northern and western parts of the UK, with gales of 50 to 60mph possible for parts of north Wales, northwest England, Northern Ireland and western Scotland. A wind warning has been issued for Northern Ireland. Along with strong winds, some rain is expected followed by showers, heaviest across north-western parts of the UK.”
But whatever the weather, come rain or shine, Brits across the country will be enjoying a long weekend from tomorrow.
And whether you’re chowing down on a scrumptious barbecue or sheltering indoors from a storm, you may still need a last minute dash to the shops.
Forgotten to stock up on burger buns and down to the last morsel of ketchup? Or perhaps you’re after a nice hunk of beef for your Sunday roast.
