Uranus retrograde focuses on your 'big rocks' – what your sign needs to know

Every year, for about five months, Uranus enters a retrograde period.

In 2022, from August 24 to January 22 2023, Uranus will go retrograde.

Unlike other retrogrades, this is a positive turn of events as it simmers down Uranus’s rebellious, change-provoking, radicalizing energy for a while, giving us more time and space to think vs react.

This transit provides an opportunity to rethink larger life goals or your ‘big rocks’.

Come out of auto-pilot and review what progress you’re making, what you’re still determined to achieve, what has changed, and what growth you’ve enjoyed. Think about how best you can deliver and work on your big rocks in 2022.

Let the tarot give you a nudge as to what your big rock in question actually is, with a horoscope for each star sign for the Uranus retrograde period.

March 21 to April 20

Tarot card for Aries for Uranus retrograde: Six of Cups

Meaning: Your big rock is a growing desire to return to your past (as far back as childhood, but maybe not that far) to reactivate things (or roles, relationships, hobbies) you genuinely used to love.

Things get lost over time. We lose touch, we drop out, we change course. But that doesn’t mean we can’t reconnect, rekindle, or reunite.

And you should this retrograde. Go back and rediscover what you once loved!

Tarot card for Taurus for Uranus retrograde: Knight of Swords

Meaning: Your big rock is an ambition or goal that you need to compete, battle and fight for. It could be linked to home, money, or a dispute you’re involved in.

Don’t worry Taurus because this is a fight you want to win, and you will. The Knight of Swords asks you to be proactive, on the front foot, demanding and challenging.

Don’t back down, don’t give in, don’t compromise. Give ‘em hell!

May 22 to June 21

Tarot card for Gemini for Uranus retrograde: Knight of Cups

Meaning: Your big rock is how you have fun, socialise, relax, and use your leisure time to recharge and revel. That might sound frivolous, but it isn’t.

Since lockdown, you’ve changed. What you used to do for fun just isn’t ticking like it used to… and you’ve been a little sad about that.

Some friendships have faded. Some hobbies don’t interest you now.

So, reflect, review, and try some new things. You will rediscover your mojo.

Get professional advice. Research your options. Come to some clear-headed new ideas to put in motion this autumn.

Tarot card for Virgo for Uranus retrograde: Ace of Wands

Meaning: Your big rock is starting a new adventure! Something authentically you, which perhaps you had a little whirl with before, but life got in the way and you moved on.

Maybe this is a dream job, a new activity, a course, a travel idea, or a creative project.

You need to get inspired again and manifest this in reality, and this retrograde is the time to plan away. Activate August or December!

September 24 to October 23

Tarot card for Libra for Uranus retrograde: The Hierophant

Meaning: Your big rock is the need to belong to something bigger than your own ideas and ambitions, be that a campaign, religion, authority, spiritual group or charity. It’s something altruistic and has an element of faith involved.

The Hierophant shows you’ve been thinking about being a part of something for a while.

Take this idea seriously, my friend, because it could change your life.

October 24 to November 22

Tarot card for Scorpio for Uranus retrograde: Page of Wands

Meaning: Your big rock is an idea about experimenting your way into a new career.

The Page of Wands sees you feeling dissatisfied with your current work but also feeling unsure where to head next. You’ve been wondering about adopting a trial and error approach and taking a year to do different things.

Take courses, adopt new projects, retrain, maybe have a sabbatical, apply for different kinds of role, freelance, take on project work… Consider your options and make a plan!

November 23 to December 21

Tarot card for Sagittarius for Uranus retrograde: Ten of Swords

Meaning: Your big rock is the desire to cut ties and leave something behind which has become difficult, draining and maybe even toxic in recent months.

Sagittarius, it is time. This situation is not going to resolve itself and the Ten of Swords is the harshest, bluntest ‘LEAVE’ message the tarot can give you.

So, take this desire seriously and start laying down plans to sever your connections and head for better pastures.

December 22 to January 21

Tarot card for Capricorn for Uranus retrograde: Eight of Coins

Meaning: Your big rock is a project, role or task which you’ve been working on for ages (it feels like forever actually…) and you are tired of.

This fatigue is making you wonder whether it give up. Do not do that.

The Eight of Coins asks you to take a breather and figure out how you can streamline, delegate, improve things. Take the load off a little.

There is still more work to do so it’s not time to quit. Work smarter, not harder. Figure out how.

January 22 to February 19

Tarot card for Aquarius for Uranus retrograde: Seven of Swords

Meaning: Your big rock is a relationship that has had ups and downs, and sometimes been the cause of great pain or upset.

The Seven of Swords shows you trying to work out how to remain involved here but without risking exposure to their worst side (which might be dormant, but isn’t dead).

Perhaps this is family, the kind of thing you can’t walk away from entirely, but which you need to reconfigure so you’re protected.

Put some thought into this. Talk to others. Ask for advice. Look at what others do to manage difficult people. It can be done.

Tarot card for Pisces for Uranus retrograde: Queen of Coins

Meaning: Your big rock is a major project about taking greater control of your finances, home admin, work and career planning.

You are on a roll. This kind of stuff doesn’t come naturally to you so you might need advice and help. Ask for it! Others can share their tips and hacks, and get you a head start.

Reflect on what’s important to you, what goals you have, what mistakes you’ve made in the past. Live and learn and put measures in place to make your material world work harder.
