Serie A side Lazio are reportedly ready to cash-in on Arsenal transfer target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Serbian midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a few seasons, and it seems like he might finally be granted his move.

Corriere dello Sport are claiming that Lazio do not want to risk losing Milinkovic-Savic for nothing, which could lead to a January sale.

The Gunners tried to sign him in the summer, but their lack of Champions League football scuppered the move.

    Haaland’s warning to Arsenal

The Manchester City striker admitted that he was “mad” not playing at the World Cup, but he is now even more motivated to win.

After netting a brace against Leeds last night, he said on Amazon Prime: “Being home, being a bit mad that I don’t play at the World Cup. I was kind of a commentator for the World Cup in my own home, where no one listens to me.

"I kind of recharged my batteries and to watch other people score and win games in the World Cup kind of triggers me and motivates me and also irritates me. I’m more hungry and more ready than ever.

“We win, that’s the most important thing. You see Arsenal at the top, now we have to hunt them so that we win, I’m really happy.”

    Good Morning, Gunners fans

Manchester City have closed in on Arsenal in the Premier League title race after they saw off Leeds United.

An Erling Haaland second-half double saw the striker reach 20 Premier League goals in just 14 Premier League games and help City to the three points.

Next year could see City and Arsenal engage in an epic title tussle with the pair set to meet in both February and April.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's attempts to land Mykhaylo Mudryk took a hit as Shakhtar openly spoke about needing "Jack Grealish" amounts of money.

Manchester City signed the midfielder for £100m in 2021 but it appears unlikely the Gunners will go that high to sign their target.

Shakhtar vice director Carlo Nicolini told Calciomercato: “€60m (£52m) is not enough to sign Mudryk. Our director said that we need a bid closer to [Jack] Grealish fee than Antony to sell Mudryk.

“We’re not even considering a bid with €40m (£35m) as fixed fee.”

In better news for the Gunners, Gabriel Martinelli is reportedly edging closer to signing a new deal.

The winger is enjoying an outstanding season at the Emirates and establishing himself as one of the best young players in Europe.

Talks between the 21-year-old and the club are now in their "final stages" according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

And reports indicate that a statue of Arsene Wenger could be given the go ahead as early as next year.

The legendary Arsenal boss returned to the Emirates for the first time since his resignation on Boxing Day.

If he was to get a bust, he would join former manager Herbert Chapman as well as iconic ex-players Thierry Henry, Tony Adams and Dennis Bergkamp whose likeness are already built in statue form around the club's ground.

    Down to Five

An Erling Haaland second-half double helped Manchester City to a 3-1 win at Leeds.

The win means City are now back to within five of Arsenal and will be looking to catch the Gunners in 2023.

The pair are set to meet in February and April in what could potentially be two Premier League classics.

Arsenal will go into the New Year with at least a five point lead if they beat Brighton on Saturday evening.

    City Closing In

Manchester City are 45 minutes away from slicing Arsenal's gap at the top of the table down to five points.

Rodri has given the away side the lead in the dying seconds of the first half at Elland Road.

City have been knocking on Leeds door for the entire first period and finally got their reward after multiple spurned chances.

Arsenal fans will need a much more improved Leeds performance in the second-half if they're to see their title rivals suffer.

The Brazilian's terms expire in the summer of 2024, although the Gunners do have an option to extend by 12 months.

And the league leaders are hoping to reward the winger for his fine form.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Martinelli is now "getting closer" to committing his long-term future to the Emirates club.

    All Eyes on Elland Road

The Final Premier League fixture of the Boxing Day programme takes place tonight – and it involves Arsenal's title rivals.

Manchester City head to Elland Road looking to cut down what is currently an eight point gap to the Gunners at the top of the Premier League.

Regardless of what happens tonight and the next few days, Arsenal will finish 2022 top of the table. But Leeds have proven themselves to be tricky customers all season and the Gunners will be hoping they can cause an upset tonight.

And while we're not quite at the stage yet where title rivals are worrying too much about each other's results, Arsenal fans will still be cheering on Leeds passionately tonight.

    'It's Not Enough'

Arsenal will need to raise their bid to land Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The London club are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk to land the 21-year-old winger but their initial negotiations has been rebuffed.

Shakhtar vice director Carlo Nicolini told Calciomercato: "€60m (£52m) is not enough to sign Mudryk. Our director said that we need a bid closer to [Jack] Grealish fee than Antony to sell Mudryk.

    End of Year Special

Brighton will be Arsenal's final opponents of the year as the Gunners round off 2022.

They've got a mixed record when it comes to their last games of the year in recent seasons.

Of the last seven seasons, Arsenal have won four of their end of December games.

They have struggled against bigger sides and fans will need no reminding of Chelsea's late Emirates comeback at the end of 2019 nor the 5-1 defeat at Anfield a year earlier.

Last game of the calendar year in the past seven seasons

    2021-22 – Norwich 0-5 Arsenal – Saka x2, Tierney, Lacazette(p) and Smith-Rowe
    2020-21 – Brighton 0-1 Arsenal – Lacazette
    2019-20 – Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea – Aubameyang; Jorginho, Abraham

    Weng You're Ready

Arsenal are preparing to build an Arsene Wenger statute outside the Emirates Stadium.

The legendary manager made his first return to the club after four-and-a-half years away on Boxing Day.

And his shock visit looks set to coincide with plans for a permanent reminder of the Frenchman at their North London home.

According to The Telegraph, the project for the Wenger bust could start as early as next year.

Former manager Herbert Chapman as well as iconic ex-players Thierry Henry, Tony Adams and Dennis Bergkamp already have statues outside the ground.

    Your in for a Challenge

Newcastle are among the sides jostling for Leicester's Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian's contract runs out at the end of the season and he has long been linked with a move to the Emirates.

But Tielemans is believed to be among the Newcastle targets for new midfielders, especially with Jonjo Shelvey out of contract at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has been consistently impressive at Leicester and has yet to sign a new deal, leaving him the subject of much transfer speculation.

    Mudryk wants Arsenal switch

Mykhaylo Mudryk is keen on a move to Arsenal, reports Sky Sports' Mark McAdam.

He says: "There have been some reports that their initial offer of £55m has been rejected.

"There is a gap between what Arsenal are willing to pay and what Shakhtar are willing to receive. They are discussing the structure of the team.

"The player is keen on the move which makes Arsenal a lot more comfortable with the situation."

    Ceballos defends mocked Elneny

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has defended Mohamed Elneny's cameo appearance against West Ham.

The Egyptian was targeted by fans on social media after he was subbed on to the pitch with only seconds left to play.

Elneny didn't touch the ball or even get close to it in the less than a minute he was on the field.

One fan tweeted: "Why is he still at this club…its evident [Mikel] Arteta will not play him and will embarrass him like this every match."

But Ceballos tweeted in response to the jokes: "Incredible professional, incredible teammate.

"More players like that in football. A luxury player for the Arsenal."
