EDEN HAZARD hasn't been a Chelsea player for over three months but he still has a place in fans' hearts – as they showed with a baffling banner on Sunday.
Before facing Liverpool, a huge tribute to the Real Madrid winger was unfurled in the Stamford Bridge home end.
Liverpool fans responded with a chant of "what the hell is that?!" given how Hazard expressed his joy at signing for Real in June.
And the online comments also pointed out the strange nature of the display.
Twitter user Alex commented: "Anyone want to tell them they're a bit late with the Hazard banner?"
Another, Klainer, wrote: "Eden Hazard banner? Seriously?"
A Hazard fan account wrote: "Omg there’s a hazard banner being passed around Stamford Bridge, I wonder if he’s watching."
Another fan account added: "Very odd to choose the Hazard banner today. Nothing wrong with remembering former players… but surely the current #Chelsea players deserve our support today?"
And Myles wrote: "Chelsea rocking the Eden Hazard banner hahaha."
It is clear that Hazard remains a favourite son at Stamford Bridge in spite of his £150million exit.
In seven years at the Bridge, he scored over 100 goals and scooped two Premier League titles, as many Europa Leagues and an FA Cup.
A permanent banner celebrating Hazard in the Shed End, in the Belgium colours with 'Garden of Eden' written across it, was in fact removed upon his sale.
Life in Madrid has been far from perfect for the winger though, his full debut in midweek ending in a 3-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain.
