He helped Juventus to win the Coppa Italia last week, which looks like to be his last piece of silverware with the club.
Buffon returned to the Serie A giants in 2019 following a year with Paris Saint-Germain, taking his total service at the Bianconeri to 19 years.
It is widely-believed that they hope to keep the veteran for at least one more season.
But a host of other sides are chasing his services and the 2006 Italian World Cup winner is thought to favour a new challenge for the twilight of his career.
Spanish side Sevilla have been linked along with Greek outfit Olympiakos.
Now Portuguese news outlet A Bola claims Benfica are about to offer him a package to join them.
Buffon has recently revealed that he has received several proposals.
And he said he will pick the ‘most stimulating and crazy’ one.

The ageing icon claims that ‘he still needs to fight, travel and take his body to the limit’ – although he did not rule out retirement either.
But it is Benfica who are hoping to secure his services and they have already launched a ‘charm offensive’ to convince him to head there.
In a tweet via Football Italia, they wrote: “Hello Gianluigi Buffon, we have an irrefutable proposal for you: how about moving to Lisbon and playing in a 4 times national champion that is struggling to return to its place?”
That then contained a link to an open letter to Buffon, which read: “Dear Gigi, We heard that you are looking for a new challenge and receptive to listening to a ‘crazy and stimulating’ proposal.
“Therefore, we decided to present you with something irresistible: how about moving to Lisbon and helping us to quickly return to our place in Portuguese football, the I Liga?
“Our friendship does not come from today. You have known us since at least 2004, the year when with the Italian team you trained daily at Estádio do Restelo, our home and the most beautiful of the sports venues.
“We are sure that you have not forgotten it – how could you? – as well as the incredible view that our sports complex has over the Tagus River. Because you are a man of football and a citizen of the world, you probably knew us before.”
