JOHN CENA has vowed to return to WWE after beginning another break from wrestling to continue his Hollywood career.
The 44-year-old shocked fans as he made a comeback at Money in the Bank in July after a 16-month absence.
He appeared on several episodes of Raw and SmackDown before losing to Universal Champion Roman Reigns at SummerSlam last weekend.
The 16-time world champ competed in 14 matches between WWE TV tapings, live events and his appearance at SummerSlam.
Now his current run with WWE is now done, and after expressing his gratitude following his latest venture in the ring, the superstar promised his supporters that he would be back.
Cena tweeted: “Words cannot describe how appreciative I am that the @WWEUniverse allowed me the opportunity to return and perform.
“Thank you staff, superstars, and most of all FANS for giving me an unforgettable summer at ‘home’ with my ‘family’. The journey takes me away now but I’ll C U soon.”
PWInsider have reported that Cena is scheduled to appear on the September 10 episode of Friday Night Smackdown at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
However, it also states that apart from that there is no other timetable for him to return for an extended run.
The report also states that WWE does not believe that Cena is going to be able to have another run ‘for the foreseeable future’.
That is due to his pre-existing filming commitments in Hollywood.
