Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus will be ‘banned from Champions League this week’ as giants told to be ‘scared’

THE remaining European Super League plotters 'should be scared' ahead of an imminent decision over their Champions League fate.

Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus after they refused to back down from the doomed proposal.

The trio are sticking to the hope of one day creating the breakaway competition despite the nine other founders pulling out and issuing a formal apology.

The six Premier League clubs involved as well as Inter Milan, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid accepted a five-per-cent cut in their upcoming prize money to ensure their place in Uefa's competitions.

However such a withdrawal has not been forthcoming from the Spanish pair and Italian club despite the threat of a two-year ban.

According to La Repubblica, via the Mail, Uefa will make a decision this week on how to punish the three clubs.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already promised to fight any sanction at the Court of Arbitration for Sport following a Spanish court ruling that the ESL contract is legitimate.

But LaLiga chief Javier Tebas has told the Catalans and Real Madrid to fear Uefa's wrath.

He told El Golazo de Gol: "The ones that have to be scared are Real Madrid and Barcelona.

"I don't want to imagine a Champions League without them but it can happen.

"More than a sanction, Uefa may opt not to register Madrid, and Barca in the Champions League.

"I think they could be left out. They should be scared."

All three qualified for next season's Champions League on merit and boast 20 titles between them.

The ESL would have delivered the 12 founders a place in the new competition every year regardless of their performance, and is a concept Tebas blamed on Madrid club president Florentino Perez.

They want everything to revolve around the big clubs and the others to be extras, to kneel down.

He noted: "The idea of the Super League has been a dream of Florentino for some time.

"It's not a Covid issue as they have tried to claim.

"The concept is not dead. They want everything to revolve around the big clubs and the others to be extras, to kneel down."
