When is Hilary Swank’s Away out?

Viewers will be pleased to hear Away makes its debut on Netflix on September 4, 2020.

The series is made up of 10 hour-long episodes, and they should all land on the streaming platform at the same time.

Fans in the US should be able to watch the series from midnight, whereas viewers in the UK will have to wait until 8am that same day.

The series was created by Andrew Hinderaker and is executive produced by Jessica Goldberg, Jason Katims, Matt Reeves, Edward Zwick, Hilary Swank, Adam Kassan and Jeni Mulein.

Fans have already seen some emotional teaser clips from the series, and they have high hopes.

Who is in the cast of Away?

Swank takes the lead role as astronaut Emma Green, who is the commander of the first mission to Mars.

Her character is headstrong and intelligent, but she is torn between her work and spending time with her family, whom she adores.

Josh Charles plays her husband, Matt Logan, who is a NASA engineer working on the same operation.

Talitha Bateman plays Lex Logan, a 15-year-old girl who is the daughter of Matt and Emma. She is supportive of her mum’s work but misses her terribly when she is in space.

Mark Ivanir plays Misha Popov, a Russian engineer on Emma’s team, and Ato Essandoh plays Dr. Kwesi Weisberg – Abban, a botanist hoping to grow life on Mars.

Ray Panthaki plays Ram Arya, an Air Force fighter pilot who does not have many attachments to Earth.

Vivian Wu plays Lu Wang, a chemist and astronaut from China who joins the group on their Mars mission.

Monique Curnen plays Melissa Ramirez, a former astronaut who helps look after Emma’s family, and she acts as crew support.

Swank is known for her roles in Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby.

Is there a trailer for Away?

Yes, fans will be pleased to hear Netflix released an official trailer for Away on August 10.

The streaming platform had previously released a short teaser, which is also still available to watch.

The official trailer shows Emma Green giving her daughter a bracelet before she leaves for her Mars mission.

She says: “Just remember the further away I get, I’m actually getting closer to being back to you.”

Her family has to say goodbye for her as she heads off on her three-year mission and fans are already finding it deeply emotional.

Her husband Matt ends up experiencing a medical problem, which means Emma has to choose between her family and the mission.

What will happen in Away?

The series follows the NASA crew as they make their journey to Mars together, and they must learn to get along.

Back on Earth, Lex is having to get used to a world without her mother, and her father severely ill.

There is plenty that could go wrong from space, and the crew will experience scary situations along the way.

Fans will be waiting to see if Emma and her team survive the mission to Mars and whether they return home safely to their families.

In the trailer, Emma is heard saying: “Whatever comes next, we can take it on together.”
