Better Call Saul is the hit crime drama series that follows the ex-con artist Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) as he turns into a small-time attorney and goes on a bumpy journey as he transforms into his alter ego Saul Goodman. The popular AMC series, which is a prequel spin-off of Breaking Bad, is now coming to a conclusion with its sixth season. Teasing ahead to the upcoming final episodes, Giancarlo Esposito who stars in the crime drama, has opened up about how he feels knowing the show is reaching its end.

Giancarlo plays Gustavo ‘Gus’ Fring, owner of Los Pollos Hermanos and a drug kingpin, in the crime series.

His character was first introduced in Breaking Bad’s second season and went on to become an iconic villain who used his anti-drug philanthropy to conceal his true nature.

Gus was killed off in an explosion during a shocking scene in Breaking Bad’s fourth season.

However, he features in the prequel series Better Call Saul as the show details Gus’ first encounters with the criminal attorney.

Production on the final season of Better Call Saul is currently ongoing after suffering some setbacks, including star Bob Odenkirk‘s health scare.

The actor shared a health update last week after suffering from heart problems.

He updated his fans on Twitter, writing: “Hi. It’s Bob. Thank you. To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week.

“And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me. It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and it means so much.

“I had a small heart attack. But I’m going to be ok thanks to Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery.

“Also, AMC and SONYs support and help throughout this has been next-level. I’m going to take a beat to recover but I’ll be back soon,” he concluded.

In a recent interview Giancarlo gave fans an insight into what they can expect from the final season of the crime drama.

“There are some really exciting storylines coming up with this last season,” the actor promised.

He teased ahead to the upcoming episodes: “I think all our [jaws] drop every time we get a script.

“So it’s exciting to be with it and in the mix on it,” he explained.

Giancarlo also shared his thoughts about the show coming to a conclusion, confessing that finishing filming will likely be emotional.

He said: “We’re going to have this sense of loss and missing something when this is done.

“It’s been a great ride. But we have a long way to go,” he added.

Referring to the writers, cast and crew behind the production, Giancarlo said: “We are a family of filmmakers.

“I think we’ve done a really incredible job making these two shows really fit within the story and characters that were developed originally,” he told TV Insider.

As the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul is currently still in production, there’s no set premiere date yet.

Better Call Saul is available to stream on Netflix now.
