The Government is reportedly getting ready to impose a national lockdown from next week, and TV fans are concerned shows like Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity may be affected.
According to reports in the Times, everything except nurseries, schools, universities and essential shops could close until Dec 1, and there are fears that filming on major shows could possibly be disrupted.
Strictly and I’m A Celeb fans have taken to social media to express their fears that the shows may be cancelled due possible impending restrictions, with one tweet reading: ‘‘Not even entertaining the idea of Strictly getting cancelled if lockdown happens because seriously what would we have to live for.’
Another person tweeted: ‘If Boris puts the country on a second lockdown the chances of I’m a Celeb going ahead are probably very slim.’
Speculation is rife, with Boris Johnson yet to make an official announcement, but TV fans can take encouragement from what’s come before.
Specially adapted versions of Loose Women and This Morning went ahead under lockdown restrictions earlier this year, and new shows could follow suit.
A rep for Strictly Come Dancing declined to comment on the impact of lockdown as it is unclear as of yet which restrictions will be in place.
I’m A Celebrity is set to arrive on ITV in November.
