Alina (played by Ruxandra Porojnicu) has had a turbulent time on Coronation Street of late, having begun a relationship with mechanic Tyrone (Alan Halsall), almost dying in a flat fire and suffering a miscarriage as a result. Following all this, she and her partner are now engaged after she misread some signals and the Weatherfield resident is already planning the big day. Unfortunately, she is currently unaware Tyrone betrayed her by kissing Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) in recent scenes on the ITV soap and when she makes plans to leave the cobbles in upcoming episodes, she could be making a solo exit from the show.
Before Alina and her partner accidentally got engaged, they were at loggerheads over the culprit who started the fire.
It was Tyrone’s stepdaughter, Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan), who began the blaze which led to her stepfather’s partner to suffer a miscarriage.
The courts decided the youngster should remain at home, rather than go to jail or a youth offender’s unit, as she is at the age of criminal responsibility.
However, the conditions to allow her to return to the family home included attending therapy sessions to work through her issues.
After the mechanic brushed lips with Fiz after the court hearing, the pair awkwardly reunite to help their daughter in next week’s episodes of the weeknight serial drama.
Putting their feelings for one another on the back burner, the pair attend the first therapy session with a reluctant Hope.
The psychologist asks the youngster why she started the fire and she replies by telling the professional she was sad Tyrone had left the family home.
Hope feels people are always leaving her and her parents are left heartbroken as they begin to understand the youngster a little better.
In the meantime, Alina arranges a surprise for her partner as she books a trip to Romania so he can meet her family.
When the mechanic discovers what his fiancée has been up to, he is devastated she wants to leave the cobbles for a short break.
One of the reasons he knows he can’t go with her is because he can’t leave Hope at such a crucial time, with her therapy only just starting.
It’s not been revealed by official spoilers what the mechanic will tell his partner but he could confess to his betrayal.
Feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders, Tyrone could leave his partner heartbroken as he explains he still has feelings for Fiz.
Labelling herself as the backup option, a furious Alina could end the relationship and contemplate her future on the cobbles.
With a ticket to Romania in her back pocket, the young woman could continue with her plans to leave but never return to Weatherfield.
After a turbulent two and a half years on the soap, could Alina’s journey finally be coming to an end following Tyrone’s betrayal?
This could leave the door open for the mechanic to reunite with his former lover Fiz and they could finally get their relationship back on track.
However, with Fiz never able to forget how Tyrone had an affair with Alina, she might find it hard to forgive him.
The actress who plays Alina, Ruxandra, 28, took to Twitter after the scenes aired showing Tyrone kissing his former lover.
She wrote on the social media platform: “Was I on tonight’s episode? [Because] I’m on the overground and I could hear my voice and someone saying: ‘Alina’.”
“A lady was watching Corrie on her phone, I’m sure of that [because] I heard the ending tune,” the soap star continued.
Several of her fans replied, with one writing: “Yeah you was in Corrie Ruxandra but I don’t think you’re gonna like what happens with Tyrone and Fiz… then he comes home to Alina looking all guilty.” (sic)
Another posted: “While you were on the train, Tyrone was kissing Fiz on the sofa. Best put him on the naughty step.”
Whilst a third remarked to the actress: “You were 90 [percent] of the episode! When Tyrone didn’t bring back the fizz.”
Ruxandra has only fuelled speculation her character could be leaving after she took to Instagram to post a series of pictures of herself enjoying some drinks with her co-stars.
This led many to believe the actress was attending her own leaving drinks party, though no official statement on Ruxandra’s departure has been announced by Coronation Street.
The soap star wrote: “This week has been such a lovely one! And it’s all thanks to the wonderful people I spent time with.
“I wish I had a picture with each of you but you know who you are. Thank you,” she concluded and several fans responded to the sweet snaps.
One wrote in reply: “I hope I am wrong Ruxandra but you have been out with a few different colleagues recently and it looks like they are leaving parties I don’t expect a reply but I really hope you are staying put for a while longer.”
Another added: “Really hope these are not leaving do photos because I want you in Corrie for many years to come. You’re a brilliant actress.”
Viewers will have to wait and see if they will be bidding farewell to the beloved character for good in upcoming episodes.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm on ITV.
