Coronation Street’s Kate Spencer has certainly made her mark on the cobbles portraying Grace Vickers.
When she’s not busy playing the soap’s resident schemer, the star spends her time doing several other jobs she enjoys.
Kate, 29, volunteers at her local box office theatre, and uses her spare time to mentor kids in foster care.
‘I like doing other things,’ she told The Mirror. ‘I currently work in a box office as well – with Coronation Street’s approval.
‘If I’ve got a quiet time with my storyline, I go back to Derby and work in the box office.
‘I’ve been there for five years.’
She added: ‘I also mentor young people in foster care, and I lecture at my old drama school. I really enjoy it.
‘I learn a lot about myself and other people and the world.’
The 29-year-old is thought to be making an explosive exit from Coronation Street in the coming months, after her current storyline wraps up.
Grace, as viewers will know, has been blackmailing Ed and Aggie Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges and Lorna Laidlaw), ordering them to give her the house they’ve been working on, or she’ll refuse to let them see their granddaughter Glory ever again.
‘Grace and Michael’s relationship will come to an explosive head resulting in her leaving the street,’ a source told The Sun last month.
‘Their relationship has been turbulent to say the least but it’s about to go up a notch once more in the Autumn. It’s going to be one of the major storylines on the show.’
The insider also claims that Grace will not be killed off, and therefore she might return in the future.
‘The door has been left open for Grace to return to the street at a later date should producers decide they want her to return.’
