Dan Walker was overly apologetic to Carol Kirkwood on BBC Breakfast today when a segment on the show meant they introduced the weather reporter later than usual. Dan and Louise Minchin were enjoying watching chief environment correspondent Justin Rowlatt dive into cold water at a London lido but the segment overran and delayed the last weather report of the show.
Justin delivered a report on whether cold water swimming could protect the brain from degenerative diseases like dementia.
The correspondent ended the report by jumping into the lido and experiencing cold water swimming for himself.
However, Dan suddenly realised they had left Carol waiting and were a few minutes late for the latest weather report.
“We need to apologise to Carol, we’re late,” Dan quipped.
