Drake and Halle Berry beef explained | The Sun

DRAKE'S promotional campaign for his eighth studio album has received some negative feedback from Halle Berry.

The X-Men actress did not approve of the Grammy Award winner using her picture for his Slime You Out single cover.

What happened between Drake and Halle Berry?

On September 14, 2023, Drake released the cover art for his and SZA's collaborative single Slime You Out.

The single's cover featured a photo of Halle Berry covered in green slime at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

Halle seemed to respond when she posted via Instagram: "Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy…even if you’re a woman!"

The Oscar winner confirmed she was referencing the cover and also said: "Didn't get my permission. That’s not cool. I thought better of him!

"Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on!

"It's about principles and integrity. So happy many of you get that."

How did Halle respond to Drake?

Regarding the single cover, Halle further revealed Drake did reach out to her for approval.

However, she did not agree to the hitmaker's usage of her likeness.

While Halle shared that she and Drake did not reach an agreement about the photo, the picture is owned by Getty Images and did not require her permission.

The John Wick actress explained her point of view and told her fans the conflict was about the principle.

She further elaborated: "Cuz he asked me and I said NO that’s why.

"Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do! That was the f**k you to me. Not cool. You get it?

"He did have his people call my people and I said NO. I don't like that image of slime all over my face in association with his song. And he chose to do it anyway!

"You see…That is the disrespect. Not cool! I'm not interested in suing my people.

"I just wish these men out here would give women the respect we deserve."
