EastEnders are set to welcome the Knight family and it's possible they have plenty of involvement in the drama which will take place at Christmas.

On June 1, fans will be introduced to Elaine's partner George Knight (Colin Salmon) and his two daughters, Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna, played by Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford.

The new family will join Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) in running The Queen Vic.

But later this year, tragedy will strike in the iconic pub as one resident is set to be murdered.

In a flashforward scene which aired earlier this year, Denise, Sharon, Linda, Kathy, Suki and Stacey were seen looking on in horror as they stood over the lifeless body of an unidentified man, with one of them tipped to be the killer.

EastEnders' Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw has now shed some light on what role the new family may play in the upcoming scene, revealing the giant knight positioned behind Stacey now "makes sense".

Chris told Daily Star and other press: "[The Knights] kind of already were [involved].

"Now the knight in shining armour kind of makes sense to everyone. When we shot that scene, the Knight's weren't in the script so everyone was speculating."

Kellie, who has portrayed Linda since 2013, admitted she was incredibly confused when she saw the knight in The Vic

"Well I walked onto set and their was this knight and I went, 'What's that?' And they said, 'It's something to do with the new family'. And I was like, 'Well what's it doing here?'"

Speaking about the new additions to the cast, Chris said: "The arrival of the Knights brings a new dawn to Albert Square. We’re thrilled to welcome this hugely talented group of actors who will be immediately thrown into the heart of the Square.

The Knights will arrive in Walford on June 1.
