EastEnders star Louisa Lytton explains why she cancelled her wedding

EastEnders star Louisa Lytton has opened up about her decision to cancel her wedding to fiancé Ben Bhanvra.

The actress – who portrays Ruby Allen in the BBC One soap – was previously forced to postpone the wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In March, however, she revealed that she and Ben had chosen to cancel the ceremony for the time being.

‘Basically I said to Ben, let’s start trying [for a baby], it doesn’t look like the wedding’s happening, and then we fell pregnant and now officially our wedding could go ahead,’ the soap star explained on Loose Women.

Elaborating further, Louisa again addressed the decision to cancel the wedding in a new interview, explaining that she and Ben will ‘start again’ further down the line.

‘We’ve cancelled the wedding altogether now,’ she told OK! Magazine.

‘We’ve decided to scrap the whole thing and start again with our plans.

‘We’re going to have the baby and focus on that and then get married once we’re ready.

‘We’d already postponed it twice and the wedding we were going to have is massive – we had nearly 200 people.’

‘We will get married but when everything is relaxed and people feel safe. I wouldn’t want people to feel on edge.’

On March 14, Louisa shared a video on Instagram announcing her pregnancy with a tribute to her own mother on Mother’s Day.

In the caption, she wrote: ‘Dear Mum, if I am a fraction of the mother you are, I know I’ll be the best.’

‘You have held my hand for 32 years, you have taught me right from wrong, corrected my spelling, and helped me see the light at the end of every single tunnel.
