Emmerdale fans weren't impressed by Dr Liam Cavanagh's behaviour on tonight's episode, as he overlooked Gabby Thomas' erratic behaviour.
The teenager has been showing signs of poor mental health since the disappearance of her mother, having turned to alcohol for solace.
The village doc was due to go on a shopping date with girlfriend Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi), only for a downcast Gabby (Rosie Bentham) to seek her friend's company.
When Leyla tried to cancel the shopping trip, Dr Liam (Jonny McPherson) reacted badly, and urged her to let Gabby down.
Over on Twitter, viewers were left fuming, as they blasted Liam – a registered doctor – for failing to identify Gabby's concerning behaviour.
One said: "Liam is the most Unrealistic doctor, can he not see gabby is depressed #Emmerdale."
A second added: "For a doctor, Liam really doesn't have a lot of common sense."
And a third chimed: "What is Liam's problem against Gabby. What has she ever done to him?"
Leyla was trying to get to the bottom of Gabby’s boozing, asking: “You don’t have to tell me what's going on but you know what I said. You can talk to me.”
However, Liam interrupted their conversation and made a few nasty comments about Gabby’s hungover appearance.
He said: “Well, drinking to excess does have some rather nasty repercussions. Gah, she looks dreadful.”
Then, he started planning a romantic afternoon with Leyla, plotting a shopping trip and a wine-filled lunch in a fancy restaurant.
Leyla admitted: “I’m gonna have to sort out Gabby first, might take a while.”
He then snapped: “I just booked this afternoon off to have with you, can’t someone else look after her?
“Why don’t we just get Laurel to pick her up?”
Liam added: “We’ve already got two teenagers to look after, we don’t need another one – who is a lot of responsibility.”
Unfortunately, Gabby overheard everything, and burst into the conversation, her face stricken with emotion.
Can Liam and Leyla get to the bottom of her destructive behaviour before it’s too late?
Emmerdale airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm.
