Emmerdale's Jane Cox rules out other soaps after emotional Lisa Dingle death

Jane Cox has ruled out working on another soap, after her emotional Emmerdale death.

The Lisa Dingle star left the ITV soap last night, after losing her battle with cancer.

Viewers watched on in tears as on screen husband Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) broke down at the realisation she had died shortly after their wedding, sobbing that her death had been ‘too soon’.

And, following the heartwrenching scenes, Jane has vowed she won’t be popping up on another serial drama, during an appearance on This Morning.

When asked if she would be returning to acting after her exit, the 67-year-old said: ‘Oh, I’m open to doing some acting, but not a serial drama.

‘It doesn’t allow you the time to do other bits and pieces.’

And what might those bits and pieces be?

‘I like to write, I don’t finish things very well but I’ve got some ideas for a book that I’ve started,’ she continued.

‘And a couple of films I’ve been working on for years, that I’ve never bought to fruition. I’m at a good place to do that now.’

After 23 years on the soap, playing Lisa Dingle, Jane’s tragic final scenes aired last night, as Zak came across her body.

Fans watched on as, just hours after she married her soulmate, she popped home to surprise him with a present, before drifting off to sleep for the final time.

And viewers were full of praise for the soap and their favourite stars, for handling the storyline so well.

But we all have a lot more to come as tonight’s episode sees the rest of the Dingle clan learn the sad news, with Belle distraught that she was never able to say a proper goodbye to her mum.

Will the family be able to cope with their loss?

Emmerdale continues on Friday 24th May at 7pm on ITV.
