GARETH Gates won Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins after beating shamed politician Matt Hancock.
The 39-year-old singer – who lost out to Will Young in the first-ever Pop Idol final – triumphantly passed the gruelling course in last night's final.
But Gareth has since admitted he needed five weeks of therapy to get over his experience on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
“I had to have quite a bit of therapy afterwards and the show is great for that," Gareth told the Mirror.
"When you come out, you’re checked over and I had about five weeks worth of counselling and therapy because it really, really did affect me."
Alongside former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, Gareth came up against Love Island hunk Teddy Soares, model Danielle Lloyd and Team GB 400m star Perri Shakes-Drayton.

Gareth says the show helped him battle his speech impediment – and discovered that expletive-ridden rants are the key to speaking fluently.
He told us: “Somebody had to take control because I was like, ‘I’m not losing this challenge’.
"I was screaming and out of nowhere I went from this stammering wreck to actually having a voice.
“Who knew shouting at people makes my stammer go away?”
