GILLIGAN'S Island star Dawn Wells’ final resting place is with her mother – and the grave is set to become a place for fans to remember her, The Sun can reveal.
Dawn, who died in December aged 82 after battling Covid, will share a headstone and grave with her mother Evelyn at the Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, Nevada.
Dawn, an only child who was Miss Nevada in 1960, and her mother, who died aged 93 in 2004, were incredibly close and even shared the same October 18 birthday.
They also co-wrote a cookbook together in 1993, “Mary Ann’s Gilligan’s Island Cookbook.”
In an interview with the Television Academy in 2008, the Gilligan's Island star revealed the two would share a grave marker.
“We share the same birthday," she said.
“I just did a little tombstone for the two of us and what I did was kind of funny and I laughed.
"But [then I thought] who is going to look at it? Nobody. [To the interviewer] Maybe you’ll come by and take a look at my grave when I go.”
Dawn, who had no children, took pride in the fact that she was able to care for her mother as her health declined.
“I think my biggest regret is that I didn’t have children—it wasn’t intentional. I think that life goes on. I don’t know what’s going on after me. I know my cat loves me,” she said.
On Evelyn’s side of the marker it reads, “God Bless You I Love You Mom.” On the right, under Dawn’s name it reads, “I’ll Call You When I Get There.”
Only the date and year of her death, December 30, 2020, is missing and will need to be added.
The two sides of the headstone are connected with their birth date and a cross.
Dawn also told the Television Academy how she wanted to be remembered at her eventual passing.
“Kind. Good friend. Happy. Made a Difference.”
Gilligan’s Island only lasted three seasons on CBS before it was canceled in 1967, but her iconic Kansas farm girl character of Mary Ann has become iconic.
Despite her prediction that "nobody" would visit her gravesite, it is now likely to be visited by fans around the world.
