Gethin Jones has been awake all night for a very good cause as the Morning Live presenter, 45, decided to dance for 24 hours straight to raise money for Red Nose Day. While BBC Breakfast had been cutting to the dedicated presenter throughout the show, one of the later updates saw Gethin looking extremely worse for wear as he continued to bounce on the spot silently. Countryfile star Helen Skelton was dancing next to him and labelled him “broken”.
Gethin took on the tough challenge to raise funds for the annual charity event.
He admitted he had “hit a wall” earlier in the show and appeared to be exhausted but he carried on dancing.
As BBC Breakfast cut to Morning Live towards the latter part of the show, Gethin could barely respond to their comments.
Helen explained: “We are counting down to a Strictly fitness like no other. Gethin is digging deep.
“The nation is behind you, people have been watching all night, you’ve had people in tears, people are cheering you on.”
She went on to admit: “I’m getting emotional just standing next to you, because he’s broken, guys!
“But he’s doing it for a fantastic cause, for a cause that helps so, so many of us. Can he complete the challenge? Find out at 9.15.”
Turning to Gethin, she quickly added: “Of course you can!”
From the BBC Breakfast studio, Charlie Stayt remarked: “Can I just say in the interest of solidarity and support, all those other people in the studio, frankly, saying they can’t take their microphones off, they should all be involved!”
He added: “Get them all over there!” to which co-star Naga Munchetty agreed: “They should be!”
“And you Charlie, get off your bottom!” Helen demanded as she continued to jig around Gethin.

“To make you feel better again, Gethin, we have another total for you,” Naga announced.
Charlie continued: “Yes, we have a new total, Gethin… it’s gone up all the time throughout the morning! The total now is £424,000!”
While Gethin couldn’t seem to reply, he simply placed his thumbs up and smiled.
“Oh Geth, you look so tired! I know you can’t speak,” Naga remarked sympathetically.
“Sorry,” Gethin managed to comment as he stood moving on the spot.
“It’s absolutely fine, the smile says it all!” Naga reassured him.
She added: “Good luck, Gethin. We’re going to let people know how they can donate to you, the broken man who is dancing.”
“He needs the support right now, doesn’t he? He really does,” Charlie added.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
